Showing Up Early Can Go A Long Way

There are several important factors that a claimant must be aware of in preparation for his or her Social Security Disability hearing. Providing proper medical evidence and testifying truthfully and clearly are very important, but one factor is often overlooked when preparing for your disability hearing.

Prior to your hearing, you will be given notice to appear at a designated location so that you can testify as to why you are disabled and unable to work. On this day, you may be asked a series of questions as to your alleged disability, but even more importantly, you have the opportunity to review what the Social Security Administration has on file for your case.

If you have submitted specific medical evidence, it should be in Social Security’s file. And if it’s not, it is your responsibility to let the Judge know this. As you can see, a little thing like showing up early for your disability case can clear up any discrepancies with your official Social Security file.

Taking these steps can also lead to favorable disability decision.
